m.29

Really, though, I'm a little afraid to step outside the house around here.
So I don't get out much.

H.28

It's getting to be about time to break out the portable mouse... I've just been using my touchpad for all my editing and it's making me lazy/frustrated. I'm going to do a SBP about boys/other people for you soon :)

m.28

It's certainly ok - I will let you know when I find that darn vid camera and we shall Skype!
At least an SBP soon or something would be terrific :)

H.27

I literally took only 2 pictures yesterday, so I'm glad that they were workable (and especially not blurry). Thanks for the email itinerary- I'll write you back soon. I'm sorry we've not had time to really talk lately. I do want to talk to you though.

H.26

Had fun storming the castle today. <3

m.25

Liked your previous picture lots. The hubs flies tomorrow. If you get the chance,
remember him in your prayers! Would love for us to get a place of our own soon :)

H.25

I don't think I was done with edits, but I didn't know what else to try.
P.s. I've never had a lion bar, and the flurry is kind of a strange conglomeration of the components, but not actually the crunched up bar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion_Bar

m.24

Yes. Another set of doors. Closet doors. And that's because it's another closet, another room, another home.
And still not ours.
But it's comfortable. And I trust the food mo' betta.
Too tired to edit. Looooong day of traveling. Only just took this picture 5 mins ago.
P.s. so what exactly is a Lion Bar then?

H.24

I asked "Do you have the normal flavors too, like Oreo, Butterfinger, M&M?" and they busted up laughing. "Normal? Our normal flavors are Smarties [it's different here], Dairy Milk, and Crunchy. Oreo? Bah."

m.23

I know I've done lots of doors and locks and stuff before, but I wanted to try
using textures like you suggested. It was really my first attempt at it, and I'm not sure what I think of it yet.
I think I just need to find more appealing textures and I will like it lots with certain shots.

H.23

This was my afternoon. I'm struggling to make sure that I have pictures before dark (i.e. 4pm) because there's so much LESS to work with when I have no control over the light. But this was fun. Freezing, but fun. My toes are still tingly.
p.s. my class today (Cross-Cultural Ethics)? I'm dropping it. I took 7 pages of notes and still had no idea what was going on. There is just no way I can cover all the material they did last semester so I have the background to handle this semester. And it's not very "business-y". Searching for a new class is hard...

m.22

We went exploring today. The picture is of a macadamia nut tree farm (macnut).
We also hit up the southern most point of the United States.
p.s. eeee! you started classes!!!!

H.22

Go on, ask me how my day was.
Oh it was fine, except for the cramps and the chocolate cravings. Don't worry, I'll be great in a few days.
p.s. we talked today about the Beatles in class and I realized I just wanted to remember every single thing my lecturer said. It was really interesting!

m.21

Doing some last minute sight-seeing before flying back to our home island.
Even Adam says Oahu feels more like home now. Whoofda. Thank goodness.
p.s. Re-uploaded the previous photo to its original size. That photo is unedited - you are getting the raw image (unlike today's photo, which has a blue filter on it for the dreary boring ocean :))

H.21

I was really excited because you could see the stars in this picture, but I'm not sure you can see them anymore because of the editing. This is Alexandra Square on campus, and that hideous gate to the right is evidence that they are tearing everything apart to renew it.

m.20

Yes, we are still in Hawaii!
I finally got my cold fix.
It was so wonderful. And so refreshing. It's such a natural feeling for me to just be C.O.L.D. sometimes.
Like real cold.
Sure miss it.

H.20

Bassenthwaite Lake is the only actual "lake" in the Lake District. But we visited here today with the international office and it was beautiful. It was a spiritual experience for me just to remember that God makes some amazing things.

 My choice:

The hubs' choice:

H.19

Not too exciting today, so that's what you get from this picture. And then I left for the club. Yes, I wish I had a good picture to juxtapose but today was def a work hard in the day and play hard at night. *cough* almost 5 hours of dancing. yeesh.

H.17

A little vignette and some focal soften. We took a tour of Lancaster today. It's got a kind of dreary past as the 3rd or 4th largest slave trade port and also as the county seat of Lancashire it's the site of many hangings and other deaths inflicted to prisoners. The city is beautiful. I feel like it's cheating to take pictures of the buildings and call it my photography skills.

m.17

Guess who always got picked last for gym class?

m.16

Speaking of tchochke(s)....
in our studio apartment. But not for long! We fly back to Oahu on the 20th.
SO glad you have net access; I need more England updates :)

H.16

Played Snookers today with a group of guys from church. It's a lot like Pool except there are different colored balls and points and the table is GIGANTIC. This makes it a lot harder, and the game goes longer when people aren't very good.
The edit here is a vintage and some exposure fix because the overhead lights really screw up these pictures.

P.s. I've finally caught up! Wooo!

H.15

1.13.2011 This is the County Round Building (or something like that). The lights change color. It's in between my room and that guy's room where I was supposed to go for a party but he didn't ever answer my text back so I just went to bed (Check the SBP if you haven't). But I got a good picture out of the experience!

H.14

01.10.2011- This was the view right off of the train station in Lancaster. It was a dreary day and I was tired from staying up late the night before having a really fulfilling conversation with my roommate, but the excitement was still thick.

H.13

1.09.20110- This is Parliament. Big Ben is off to the right just a little ways. We were walking over the bridge to the London Eye just as the sun was setting (at about 1630. So early!) and the view was spectacular.

m.15

This was taken out of a 35 mph traveling vehicle, last shot of the day, only one chance to get it
and I got it. Love this because it's what we are going to call our puppy! Eeeeee!!
In Hawaiian it means, the sound, the voice, or (my favorite)
"the one who is called"
p.s. It's pronounced Kuh-lay-o

m.14

Because I can't pretend that I didn't spend my whole morning reading in bed.
And don't you find it at least slightly freaky that I finished reading
Looking for Alaska
on January 10?
Because I certainly do.

m.13

Our neighbor has his own mini botanical garden - he's about 78 years old and his name is Charles and has been working on this garden for the past 9 years. Its seriously amazing. And then when you are walking around in it
and you see him, he just jumps (slowly makes his way) at the chance to give you the "taste and smell" tour. He is
amazingly knowledgeable. It's quite fascinating. I love it there. Hence, the loads of Garden pictures.

m.12

We are just a bunch of sickies today. All this mold, mildew, and piss-poor attitude is catching up to me, I see. What a pleasure to see your recent posts, though. Glad it's been wonderful :)

H.12

1.08.2011-The incredibly small hotel room that me and a girl who is studying at Oxford share. It's a mess. I've repacked things, but I tell you what- I'm over living in a hotel room. I'm ready to be on campus and in my dorm and unpack and buy groceries. But London has been sooo much fun.

Also, as a note, I apologize for not getting pictures up on that right date. I didn't foresee that I was going to have to pay $9.50 every hour of wireless internet time. I get on campus on Monday, so hopefully I should be a little more stable then.

H.11

01.07.2011- This adorable little French tchochke shop- it's got the weirdest/cute stuff, but it's also really cool. It' a chain, but this particular shop is in Covent Garden, close to the hotel I'm staying at.

01.06.2011
The first view I had while we were in the coach from the airport into central London. I love the brown houses with the white roofs. It's like all of the pictures my parents have from when they lived in Germany. I think they are great.

H.9

01.05.2011- Leaving the train station in DC. Desaturated since there was hardly any color in this picture in the first place.

Not too much edits, because I really liked the natural lighting going on here.
Some contrast and brightening.
p.s. 25 mosquito bites to get this shot.

m.9

Edited with Paint the Moon's free Jubilant photoshop action.
This is where I was when we were talking today.
Some old souvenir shop.

The Rollercoaster Bridge. Always pass this on our way through town; never stopped till today.

H.8

The only part of campus that looks like a real campus. Welcome to U-yard. Some curves color editing to take out all of the nasty red glow of the city.

m.7

The hubs took this photo in high school
and developed it himself in the darkroom.

H.7

I sang the "lady lady lady song" today. Wondering what I'm talking about?
I love John Green's books. Will Grayson, Will Grayson was a hard read for me because it was really antagonistic to the way I was raised, but I persevered and really liked it in the end. The others, including this one, were an absolute joy to read (but my favorite was An Abundance of Katherines.)
DFTBA!

m.6

Your edits on the last one inspired me. I really liked the look of it.
This shot was on the way home from church - only lens I had with me was my 50mm,
so not quite the effect I was going for, but it works.

Last metro ride out to J&J's for 6 months. More "lasts" to come as we enter the hour-by-hour countdown. Masonic Temple in the background. Lots of edits on this one.

Growth.
That's what I'm sure this next year will bring.
Edits - curves, levels, contrast, bit of vignette.
Really loving this shooting-everyday-thing.
(ps Why is there such a HUGE difference between large and xlarge?!!?)

H.5

My bed for the past 3 weeks off and on. (It's a pullout bed, but still...)
